Love this post and the message! What a great reminder to be aware of the comfort level of one's audience and the goal of being heard. It is easy to think that shock value will increase the interest and attention of the audience and miss that it may actually distract from the topic. Thanks, Michelle!

I've never thought of it that way before... hmmm, is it possible I really am just so absorbed in their story that I lose the detail of their name? That actually feels possible to me. Thanks for the slightly different angle, Mama! (There's no way they are attributing your memory blip to "old age" - you are too energetic and youthful for that!)

I like this article. I've done presentations myself and workshops and it's scary at first, but it's so rewarding and it does attract business and clients to you. It's a door opener, definitely. Thanks for these tips.

You may not be really hearing their name when they first tell you cause you're excited about learning about them and their story at that time. It's easier for me when I first meet someone, to use their name a couple of times when talking with them, that kinda helps cement them in my brain. . .not always, but it has helped. I have totally done a brain fart with people I feel very close to and I either start talking with them or I'm gonna introduce them to someone, and I space out and don't remember their name. . .I just end up pointing at them and stubbling around for words and then finally admit to them I forgot their name. . .they usually just laugh it off (probably contributing it to 'old age'). So I think its pretty normal at times to come up short with the memory. . .its when you forget your relatives names is when you should start worrying, ha!
